  Class #1 Beginner Sailing Level 1

  The Beginner Sailing Program curriculum includes:
  

  • 20 hours of land and on the water instruction
    
  • The “Learn Sailing Right” textbook is included
  • Safety Aspects of Sailing: Physical Fitness, PFD’s, Attire
  • Environmental Awareness: Wind, Weather, Currents
  • Sailboat Elements: Sail Power, Boat Parts, Knots and Lines
  • Sailing Skills: Upwind, Downwind, Stopping, Docking
  • Emergency Skills: Capsize Recovery, Overboard Drill
  • Rules of the Road: Right of Way.

  
  

  This class will likely be held at Lost Grove Lake but may be moved to Lake Davenport if conditions permit.

  If class is held on Lake Davenport which is Mississippi River Pool 15 east of lock and dam 15 there is a a manned safety power boat in the river at all times.

  Tiller time classes occur every Saturday from June 8th through September 14th for sailors wanting to get more independent sailing experience. The registration fee is $200 for the entire summer season. (Season Maybe shortened or extended based on River conditions)
